We have update the raid controllers to the latest version of firmware, and have installed the above version of open-e and now can no longer manage the controller from the Megaraid software. If we reboot the server with say version 7.0up12 then we can manage the cards. We have tried different versions of the MegaRaid software.

I have noticed that the email notification about replication tasks are not showing the correct LV if you have more that 10 LV. Below is an example of the replication task for LV0024 that I just started, it is reporting on LV0004 not LV0024, LV0011 will show LV0001 etc..

Am I using 10% of the available performance or 110%.

Ressurecting DSS / FusionIO cards
We may be pulling Open-E off the shelf to create an extremely fast ESXi iSCSI target. I'm wondering if the drivers for FusionIO cards exist in Open-E. I've seen one of our cards show up an a Sandisk IODimm, but then not show in the LG possibilities.
If not, it is possible to load them?

Cannot See/Manage LSI Cards
I have setup 2 SANs for HA testing. The both have LSI 9271CC Cards and are running 7.0up54.9101.18432.
I cannot connect using the MegaRaid Storage Manager to either SAN. Everything else appears normal. One of the LSI cards has stale firmware, the other is up to date.
My Windows client is running MSM 14.08. Any idea why I am not able to connect and manage the LSI Cards?

DSS v6 Lite problems - update, network adapters and settings
Welcome,
The serwer worked on DSS V6 Lite b3530 (installed on HDD).
I wanted to update DSS v6 Lite b3530 to newer build b7337 but I can not update .iso by webGUI "update software" from other computer in LAN.
I saw note "... Please not close not refresh website until..." after few hours nothing happend - still I saw note (the same as someone wrote on the forum earlier).
So, first I put "apply" to search new update and it downloaded update b4023 and I accepted and updated, next from b4023 I downloaded b7337 and I accepted the update but after reboot not loading - always stops at black screen with "Loading...".
I read on the forum - can help: to run "Repair filesystem on LV" from extended Tools and I did it.
So, I also downloaded from www.open-e.com older builds and create bootable USB with b7337 (not loading), next b6335 (not loading) and next b5845 and it LOADING, so I wanted to update this build by webGUI from other komputer in LAN but!: in meantime I lost network adapters in console.
After run the b5845 from USB In Console I see notice: "No network adapters detected" - by C+A+N I can write routing (Address, Gateway, Netmask) but I can not Apply them, of course.
I put to the computer next ethernet PCI card (first is onboard and enabled in BIOS) and still Network settings: is empty, no network adapters.
Of course, I saved setup and settings in webGUI before update. I am still waiting with "Run software installer b5845" because I do not know if only this way or if at all it will solve this problem because all data will be removed from disk (DSS). If it not necessary I would like to not do it.
I do not know what happened (with network adapter and settings IP, Netmask, Gateway) and what I should to do to repair network settings, please help.

Hello,
are there any information about the ramifications of the CVE-2015-7547 (glibc getaddrinfo() stack-based buffer overflow) exploit in Open-E DSS V7?
VMware, Zyxel, Citrix and even Synology have already made updated firmwares/patches for most of their affected appliances.
Whats the Status with Open-E DSS V7? Is it affected? Are there any workarounds? Is there an ETA for updated/patched Version?
I cant find any information about this exploit in the Open-E Website, full disclosure was over a week ago. Thats a pretty long time for a security hazardous situation.

Language localization reports ?
Hello,
is there a Subforum for language localization reports ?
Especially i found a wrong translation in the german version under System-> Hardware-> USV-Status.
It displays the state of charge and is in english correct labeled with "Battery-charge" in German its labeled with "Batterie-Wechsel" thats misleading . You could think its the time to change the battery.
The correct translation was "Batterie-Ladezustand".

Central Management or External Management Agents
Is there any way to get a central management system for those of us with multiple clusters deployed? Even with a single cluster deployment with 2 units, it would be nice to be able to manage everything from a single management interface, rather than having to login directly to each device every time.
This would also help with errors/logs/reporting, with everything consolidated.
If not, can you integrate other management reporting within SNMP so we can see the status of hardware (drives)... Right now, it's basic statistics, but, if there's a hardware RAID controller, it would be nice to see if there's issue being reported, or the status of drives, without having to connect using a RAID management software piece.
This would also help with errors/logs/reporting, with everything consolidated.

Basic snapshot questions
I read through the nice PDF on snapshotting with DSS and still had a few questions.
Is it necessary to leave any free space on a volume group (single disk in my case) to allow for snapshots? Or is the snapshot space carved out of the space provided for a the share (NAS volume I believe).
I have 466GB free. I'd like to host some ESXi VMs there and I have nothing else I want to place in this location. But I also want to be able to do snapshots for backups. Should I create a NAS volume that that takes up the entire space and will snapshots come out of that, or do I need to leave some free space (10%?) and then reserve it all for snapshots?

4TB limit too strictly enforced.
Could someone explain to me how to create a RAID10 array with two 4TB drives? As soon as I select the software RAID, I get this warning:

Total storage size exceeded licensed storage capacity. Please purchase license key for bigger capacity.
Unless I am mistaken, RAID 10 is a STRIPE of MIRRORED drives, and therefore, you need twice the licensed capacity to create said RAID. Perhaps that restriction should be relaxed until AFTER the RAID array is created?

Unable to SSH / open configuration website on DSS v6
Hi
I currently have an issue with one of my storage SANs running open-e dss v6
I can no longer reach it with either SSH nor the website, website error under

The SAN otherwise runs fine, i can reach it on the network for storage etc but i can't reach the web client for configuration nor to my knowledge SSH to it
I have tried to restart the apache server and otherwise rebooted etc but no luck
Anyone able to help me out?

Cluster active-active running on one node only
Hello,
After a scheduled shutdown one one SAN, my cluster refuses to restart on the given node. It says that mirror settings are wrong.

Lost and Locked Configuration/NAS Settings
I have an older installation of 6.0up98.8401.7337 32bit that has files on it I need to copy off. When I boot the server all is well except I am unable to set any configuration settings under "Configutraion/NAS Settings", such as the badly needed "Authentication Method" where I need to set the Workgroup (internal LDAP). NFS settings can not set and the FTP settings the same way, nothing sticks. When I enter the settings and hit reply, it comes back defaulted to nothing. I did the reset configuration utility on the console and nothing changes.
Under "Status/System" the "SMB Transfer Protocol" is "On" but status is "Failed", same with the "SMB Naming Service".
At the console I've run the check disk utility and the drives come back clean. I really need to get these files off and I've got a few hours into messing with this, but nothing ever changes, never able to get Samba, FTP, or anything on that configuration page running.
Anybody out there have any advice, I really would like to get some files off this box.

update from up54 to up56 in iSCSI active/active environment.
Hi,
we have just installed our new Open-E 7up54 with active-active iSCSI clustering. After testing we just put it in productive environment some days ago.
Now I see there is a up56 with new features (especially the one about modifying cluster settings in HA mode). Now my question: can i do an update without downtime by just move all resources to one side and update one side and afterwards updating the other side?
if i'm going to disable HA all vm's and applications on our cluster will die. so there should be a way to do an update without downtime. i can't find any documentations about how to do a correct update...
